We are seeking sales professionals with a track record of success in cultivating and managing advertising accounts to join our account executive team. The ideal candidate is motivated, competitive and growth-oriented. The position is full-time and offers a base salary, generous commission structure and a relaxed, supportive environment.
More and more advertisers are turing to niche publications that allow them to reach highly targeted demographics at a lower price than general-interest media. In six years, Wisconsin Gazette has quadrupled its circulation and become a staple of Milwaukee’s progressive community. The Milwaukee Press club has honored us with 24 awards in the past 6 years – more than any other alternative publication in the city. In our first year as an affiliate member of the Association of Alternative Newsmedia (AAN), we won first place for cover design. We are currently audited by Circulation Verification Council.
Successful candidates will have 2-3 years of outside sales experience, preferably with media sales, as well as strong references. Other requirements and qualifications include:

While we are not actively looking to fill any full- or part-time editorial positions, our staff is always interested in hearing from freelance writers with experience covering Wisconsin news and lifestyle and/or a great story to tell.
Prospective writers should reach out with concrete pitches, rather than simply indicating interest in writing, and send samples of work written for other publications. Due to our production schedule, writers should pitch stories at least two weeks in advance of our issue dates, preferably three to four. Please be sure to read prior issues of the Gazette to both get a sense of our company style and ensure you’re not pitching something we’ve already covered. If we are interested in your pitch, we’ll contact you directly; due to time constraints editors may not be able to respond to every pitch individually.
