Ryan Garceau and Donovan Atkinson met in 2006 and soon discovered a mutual love of decorating. Ryan has an especially strong love of decorating for Christmas. After many years of friends and family prompting Ryan to decorate professionally, Ryan and Donovan decided to ease into forming their own decorating service. So far, they have created holiday displays and decorations for varied businesses — from taverns to salons, coffee shops to home stores. In 2014, Garceau Atkinson LLC added estate sale and consignment services. With over 10 years of retail management and merchandising experience, we can effectively market your estate through the use of social media and our online retail presence. In addition to onsite estate sales, Garceau Atkinson can also take estate items on consignment to be sold online or through special sales events. We are also able to buy out individual items and entire estates. Through our use of today’s technology, we are able to reach a wide spectrum of buyers. We pride ourselves on our honesty, integrity and compassion, so let us work with you during your time of transition. 98 years of Rubin’s Furniture! That’s a very long time. Almost a century ago, my grandfather, Ben Rubin came to Madison, Wisconsin from Russia and opened the very first Rubin’s Furniture. Ben’s two sons, Isadore Rubin and David Rubin were the 2nd generation of Rubins. In 1932 Isadore and David opened Badger Furniture, a modest store in downtown Madison. During my childhood I often helped my father, Isadore to shovel coal into the furnace on cold winter Sunday mornings. In high-school I worked part-time on the delivery truck and I helped unpack new furniture in the warehouse. During my college years, I graduated to the “floor” and began my sales career. In 1969, I bought my father’s half of Badger Furniture and added management to my repertoire. LIVING ROOMS was our contemporary beginning. My wife, Judith Rubin opened this store in 1979 and we became sole owners several years later. We closed Badger and changed the name back to Rubin’s Furniture in 1983. Rubin’s Milwaukee opened in 1991 and moved to the 3rd Ward in 1993. Rubin’s Scandinavian, now r-LIFESTYLE, opened on the west side of Madison in 1995. Rubin’s Clearance Center Monona opened in 1998 on the near east side of Madison. Rubin’s Chicago opened in 2006 north of downtown in the Lakeview neighborhood. Our son, Bill Rubin is the 4th generation of the Rubin family in our company. He currently works directly with all management personnel and oversees operations at all locations. He also directs and develops our television advertising campaigns. We invite you to explore the wide world of contemporary design at all Rubin’s locations.
