Wisconsin man defends Obama ‘hang in’ noose sign
A Wisconsin man who made a “Hang in there Obama” sign featuring an outline of a noose says he actually supports President Barack Obama.
Thomas Savka tells WLUK-TV that his sign in the east-central Wisconsin town of Redgranite “has nothing to do with color.”
Instead, Savka says he wanted to get people’s attention. He says “everybody’s picking on Obama” and he wanted to convey an attitude of “hang in there, buddy.”
Neighbors say the sign, which is attracting may passersby with digital cameras, is in poor taste. Some observed that at a distance, the “in there” is difficult to see and the message looks like “Hang Obama.”
The Obama campaign released a statement calling the imagery “inappropriate” and saying it “has no place in public discourse around elections.”
